Abdul El-Sayed, who was director of the Detroit Health Department and Wayne County Health, Human and Veterans Services, is running for the seat held by U.S. Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., who announced earlier this year he would not seek reelection in 2026. Two others recently entered the race to replace Peters.
