TROY, N.Y. — It’s been a while since the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and Union College football teams met with five or more losses. RPI (4-5) and Union (3-6) are set to renew the annual Dutchman Shoes rivalry on Saturday, at East Campus Stadium, in Troy. As of the noon kick-off, it will have been 11 years since the programs entered the contest with that dubious distinction. Engineers head coach Ralph Isernia remembers that 2013 meeting well, and not because it was his first time coaching for ‘The Shoes,’ since taking the head job in Troy.
