CONTRACT

Supervisors OK Blue Lake contract with sheriff’s office

Entertainment

The contract, which passed as part of the board’s consent calendar — which are taken in one vote unless a member pulls an item for discussion — came after months of disputes between the sheriff’s office and the city. The latter balked at the contract’s initial $315,000 estimate, over double what they paid the previous year. With the new contract, recomputed down to $190,685 and extending until the end of next June, the city gets round-the-clock coverage from an officer regularly patrolling the area, meaning city residents are supposed to see quick responses to non-emergency calls.
