A new animated movie called Wendell & Wild will be available on Netflix in October 2022! The film’s two major characters are played by the renowned comedic duo Jordan Peele, 43, and Keegan-Michael Key, 51. Henry Selick, 69, who previously gave audiences the Halloween cult masterpieces The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline, wrote the novel from which the movie is adapted.
According to the movie’s IMDb profile, the upcoming Halloween film is classified PG-13 and has a total running time of one hour and 45 minutes. Just one month before its October premiere, on September 6, 2022, Netflix released the movie’s official trailer. The official teaser can be seen above! Just three days before Halloween in 2022, on October 28, viewers can watch Jordan’s most recent work on Netflix. The only studio and distributor associated with the movie is Netflix. The eerie movie’s release was formally confirmed by Netflix on August 30, 2022, via their official blog. Wendell and Wild, characters created by Jordan and Keegan, embark on “a quest to enter the world of the living,” claims the blog.
Wendell & Wild is already getting Oscar buzz even one whole month before its premiere! Wendell & Wild is probably going to be a contender as Henry’s Coraline received a nomination for best animated film at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2010 and Jordan is bringing his Oscar-winning writing. According to Cartoon Brew, it was also the only animated movie chosen for this year’s TIFF’s schedule. The movie will debut in a few theaters across the US starting on October 21, in addition to its streaming platform debut on October 28.
Crew and Cast
Jordan and Keegan, from Key and Peele, will feature in Wendell & Wild! Jordan, who is also the movie’s producer and writer, will play the role of Wild, and Keegan will play Wendell. The cast will also include Tamara Smart from Resident Evil in the character of Siobhan, and Lyric Ross from This Is Us will play Kat Elliot. Angela Bassett from Black Panther, Ramona Young from Never Have I Ever, and Ving Rhames from Mission Impossible are among the actors joining the project’s cast.
As Sister Helley, one of the movie’s most prominent characters, Angela is slated to portray the part. Ving will portray Buffalo Belzer, while Ramona will play Sweetie.

The screenplay was co-written by Jordan, Henry, Keegan, and Clay McLeod Chapman. Author Clay is well-known for his works including Ghost Eaters and Whisper Down the Lane. Wendell & Wild is directed by Henry, who also helmed Coraline and The Nightmare Before Christmas. The Henry and Clay book served as another inspiration for the Netflix production.
